Singing improves mood and reduces stress.
About Us
vocala is an established women’s choir based in Sevenoaks, led by professional choir director Dani Lemer.
Founded in 2009 as nůmama, the choir was created to offer women, particularly those navigating early motherhood, a welcoming place to sing, connect and feel supported. Over time, both the choir and its community have grown, and we are thrilled to now continue into a new chapter as vocala: a contemporary women’s choir for singers at all stages of motherhood and musicianship.
Our repertoire is rich and varied, spanning folk, pop, a cappella arrangements, show tunes and world music. We are musically ambitious, but teach by ear as well as from sheet music, ensuring that everyone can participate fully.
Rehearsals are relaxed and friendly, with an emphasis on the joy of singing with like-minded women. There will always be coffee and homemade cake to start, too! Babies and toddlers are welcome at rehearsals; we have toys for them and experienced mums who can lend a hand or an ear if you need it!
